Hope you guys are enjoying your Sunday.
Was out of town the past few days.
Anyways….I know you guys are used to roasting simps on Sunday, but this week will mark the start of our Red Pill of The Week series.
For those unfamiliar with the term “Red Pill”, I am simply referring to a general truth….or observations/ideas that society refuses to acknowledge.
So with that being said…..
Red Pill Of The Week: “Scarcity is the root of value.”
“Too much circulation makes the price go down: The more you are seen and heard from, the more common you appear. If you are already established in a group, temporary withdrawal from it will make you more talked about, even more admired. You must learn when to leave. Create value through scarcity.”
Law 16: Use Absence to Increase Respect and Honor
-Robert Greene, 48 Laws of Power
Or we can recall another passage from The Art of Worldly Wisdom by Baltasar Gracian….
“Make use of Absence to make yourself more esteemed or valued.”
“If the accustomed presence diminishes fame, absence augments it. One that is regarded as a lion in his absence may be laughed at when present as the ridiculous result of the parturition of the mountains. Talents get soiled by use, for it is easier to see the exterior rind than the kernel of greatness it encloses. Imagination reaches farther than sight, and disillusion, which ordinarily comes through the ears, also goes out through the ears. He keeps his fame that keeps himself in the centre of public opinion. Even the Phoenix uses its retirement for new adornment and turns absence into desire.”
Few men can swallow this red pill.
Do you remember the friend I told you about the other week?
The one wallowing in his misery over his ex girlfriend….
My advice to him: “Go no contact….no calls, texts, social media, etc”
My advice was grounded in the understanding of this red pill…..“scarcity creates value.”
When you haven’t seen someone in months…..you wonder what they are up to.
When you haven’t ate sweets in over a year….you miss their taste.
When there is a limited supply of a certain good..,…everyone wants it.
Application of Scarcity To Your Own Life….
The application is quite simple.
If first you understand that your time is limited (scarce) and you value it as such…..
You will begin to treat your minutes as if they were a precious metal.
Not handing them out so freely, investing them, and protecting them from wasteful pursuits.
Remind yourself how scarce life truly is…..
And you will begin to embrace it.
There is no time to wallow over a woman…..
To feel self pity…..
To waste hours on pornography……
On a more pragmatic/specific level you can use scarcity to improve these areas of your life:
- Health: Appreciate the scarce nature of your health. The 90 year old man with wrinkles on his face once viewed reality from the same lens as you…..youthful and vigorous.
If you truly understand the scarcity of your health you work towards preserving it daily.
2. Relationships: In any of your relationships….family, friends, women…….if you feel you are not receiving the respect, reciprocation, or friendship you desire….withdraw yourself for a time.
Apply the scarcity principle to your presence….
“People value greatly of that which there is little to go around.”
3. Business: Produce something that is scarce and solves a problem. Profit is guaranteed.
There is a reason why I invest in Bitcoin.
It is scarce.
Scarcity = the root of value.
Back to the friend I mentioned….
I may have told you, but he did not follow my advice.
He reached out to his ex in a simpy fashion.
He made his attention abundant.
High supply = No value.
Low supply = Much value.
So the questions you should ask yourself after reading this today,
How abundant is my attention?
How scarce is my time?
Just to be a little clearer before I wrap this up….
- External Approval
- External disapproval
- Time with loved ones.
Now think about which list most people value and guide their lives by…..
Scarcity is red pill worth digesting.
Happy Sunday guys….
Talk to you soon.
